Bevelled or Roundover? Our two edge profiles

Bevelled or Roundover? Our two edge profiles

When it comes to pottery forms, the edge profile can make all the difference when it comes to creating the perfect piece.

That's why we offer two different edge profiles — bevelled and roundover.

So, which one is right for you? Let's find out.

Bevelled edge profile

The bevelled edge profile is a classic choice for handbuilders. With a sharp edge that slopes down to the surface of the form, our bevelled edge forms create dishes with clean, crisp line between the base and rim of the dish.

Plates made using the bevelled forms stack better than their roundover counterpart due to the angle of the rim.

We offer the bevelled edge profile in our round form range, available in three sizes.

Roundover edge profile

If you're looking for a softer, more organic look, the roundover edge profile might be just what you need.

With a gentle curve that blends seamlessly into the surface of the form, the roundover edge profile is perfect for creating flowing, natural dishes that have a softer look and feel.

To make plates with a roundover edge profile stack better, make the rim shorter and add a foot to them.

We offer the roundover edge profile in a range of shapes and sizes, including round and oblong forms.

Which edge profile is right for you?

So, which edge profile is right for you? That depends on your personal preference and the style of pottery you're creating.

If you're looking to create pieces with clean, crisp lines, the bevelled edge profile might be the way to go. If you're more interested in creating organic, flowing forms, the roundover edge profile might be a better fit.

Of course, you can always experiment with both edge profiles and use each for different products and collections — the possibilities are endless.
